Imagine the challenge of introducing the subject of identity to a classroom of children who have no functional or living parents, have been discriminated and/or abandoned by their own people because their skin color was an indication of Native Ancestry.
Identity
For most children and youth at Corazón, the only traditions they knew prior to Corazón involved religious ceremonies and parties with banda music and people overdrinking. Values, culture and identity are tough subjects, especially for newcomers. We look for opportunities to combat stereotypes, create conscience and promote global awareness.
