Programs

Real and positive change...

Through our Educational Programs, we have the potential to make real and positive change for some of Mexico's most vulnerable children and youth.   Corazón's students receive personalized support in an open-learning program with low teacher-student ratios, ensuring each child is able to advance at their own pace, with the enrichment they need to further their whole development.

Corazón School K-12 Program

A progressive, inclusive, K-12 Academic Program from 7am-7pm.  An integrated, student-centered approach to learning, focusing on faith, environmental studies, sustainability, life skills, fitness, critical thinking, community outreach, spiritual enlightenment and global awareness!

Students spend a lot of time outdoors, acquiring knowledge through project-based experiences where they feel free to express, create and innovate, all in a bi-lingual learning environment with full English Language immersion in certain subjects, designed to stimulate creativity and a love of learning beyond required curricula, including Art, Music, Drama, Culinary Arts, Equine Therapy, T
utoring, Sports, Chess Club and Robotics.

"My name is Maria Guadalupe Estrada Hernández and I have worked as an Education Facilitator at INEA (Open Learning for Youth and Adult Education) for 22 years.  It has been a such a rewarding experience to empower people to reach their goals and truly effect change in their lives.  Working with Melissa Canez, Founder and President of Fundación Corazón de Niña during the past eight years has been a hugely gratifying experience as so much progress has been made with so many children, youth and adults that her Foundation have supported through to middle school completion in preparation for High School entrance and Graduation.

I would like to express my greatest admiration for Corazon de Niña for all they do for our community and for Melissa for being a woman with a huge heart supporting Mexican children with emotional, social and educational problems for over ten years.  It is an honor to work together and there is still so much to be done.  Special thanks to all of you who help her to make this possible."

Literacy

Hope, self-esteem, pride and empowerment are top priority at Corazon, just a few of the many wonderful things that come from learning how to read and write, add and subtract, multiply and divide.  This was a record year (2020) with 18 graduates from our Literacy and Numeracy Program!

Thank you for the huge support you have given me over the years, my journey.  I have learned to value what it is to have a family, work hard and be organized both personally and professionally. This I learned in the many opportunities I have had in the Foundation. Thanks to this I will continue learning and in the future help others, just as you have helped me.  My gratitude is infinite for all the support and may God always bless you.  I have officially finished Grade 12 and will begin my Accounting Degree next year.  Thanks to Corazón de Niña I am ready to take the next step in my life to learn, life and feel what it is like to be a responsable adult.  In my mind and heart will always remain the amazing memory of all the wonderful moments I lived at Corazón.  Muchas gracias!

Hello my name is Jorge Antonio Ventura Ruiz.  When I arrived at this Foundation, Mamá was so kind to me and my brothers.  On my first day of school, I could barely read and write and could not multiply or divide. I pushed myself and completed Elementary School in one year.  Then Mamá presented me with a challenge, to do Grade 7 and 8 in the next year and I reached that objective also.  Many times I was frustrated with myself but thanks to our wonderful teachers and classmates who were so supportive, I am triumphing and setting a good example for my younger brothers, Miguel and Iñaki.  I am so grateful to Mamá as she was the one who challenged me and believed in me.  I will continue to do my best and achieve my goals.  Thank you!

Good morning, my name is Sonia Silvana Aviles Valdez and I am 14 years old.  I would like to tell you about how my life has been since I arrived at the Foundation.  When I first got here, I thought this was not my home, but in time I realized that it is thanks to Mama Melissa I could meet marvellous people, make beautiful friendships and I learned what it was to be a good person, to be respectful and ask for everything with a please and thank you. I value my education and the opportunity to be strong, independent and successful. I come from a family of eight siblings and I am the only one studying. I am so grateful to God for having put me in this house that is now my home.

ART

Artistic expression is huge at Corazón as we value the impact it has on all aspects of a child´s healing and development.  We combine mural, recycled, freestyle, clay and many other media but the outcome is always phenomenal!

Inclusion

Successful inclusive education happens primarily through accepting, understanding, and attending to student differences and diversity, which can include physical, cognitive, academic, social, and emotional. The driving principle is to make all students feel welcomed, appropriately challenged, and supported in their efforts.

Children and youth with disabilities, disorders and diseases, youth in recovery from addictions...

all advance through faith and education when given the chance.

Help us weave a tapestry of hope for a better future, one child at a time.

Educators

Our teachers are resilient, dynamic, experienced and passionate members of our team.  All bring a different area of expertise from Early Childhood Education, Humanities, Math and Science Enrichment, Languages, Environmental Studies, Fine, Culinary & Performing Arts and Robotics!  It takes a special kind of person to teach a mult-level class of children, some of whom arrived not knowing how to read or write.  On any given day, two or three new children could be sitting in your classroom suffering from PTSD and need to be integrated.  They have embraced methodologies which were once foreign to them and have become passionate about a Green, Activities-based, Student-Centred Education - a truly amazing team

Education is one of our key areas of focus and a source of much success for our Organization.

Our Educators make this possible!
