Corazon Comparte Program

Every Monday, Fundación Corazón de Niña opens its heart to the community through our Corazon Comparte Program. The initiative provides vital support to over 70 families in need while fostering values of giving back among our children and youth who are very involved preparing food bank grocery hampers, food and beverages. The ever-growing line up starts at 6am. All recipients are registered in our Program which starts off every Monday morning with a nourishing meal, coffee and tea. A time they cherish, a reprieve from their daily struggles to survive. Some have children, youth and seniors with disabilities, all face challenges such as homelessness and hunger.

Corazon Comparte goes beyond a single meal providing food bank service, distributing essential staples like beans, rice, oats and vegetables, ensuring families have ingredients for healthy meals throughout the week. Also, medical supplies including diapers for babies, youth and seniors in need.

These photos capture the essence of Corazon Comparte: a spirit of sharing and a commitment to alleviating hunger and despair in our community.

This Program relies on the generosity of our donors and volunteers. If you'd like to join us in making a difference, please visit our website [fundacioncorazon.mx] to learn more about volunteer and donation opportunities.

Staff Spotlight: Rocio, Program Coordinator and Teacher

Rocio has been with Fundacion Corazon de Niña for four years. We are so grateful for all her hard work, dedication and passion she brings to Corazon! Here is her reflection on her time here.

What initially drew you to work at Corazon, and what made you stay for four years?

Corazón's focus on developing a conscience in children is what truly captured my heart. I wanted to be part of an organization that goes beyond academics and equips them with the tools to make a difference in Puerto Vallarta. Seeing them explore diverse fields like art, science, and sustainability – all while learning to care for Mother Earth – is incredibly fulfilling. Witnessing their transformation into responsible individuals with a vision for the future keeps me dedicated year after year.

What are some of the biggest challenges and rewards you've experienced as a teacher and program coordinator?

The biggest hurdle is definitely helping students overcome limiting beliefs. Many come from situations where they've been told "you can't" or "don't bother." Our job is to show them a brighter future and the power they have to make good choices. It's about breaking those negative cycles and giving them the tools to build a positive future, not just for themselves, but for Puerto Vallarta too.

The most rewarding moments? Seeing their eyes light up when they finally say "I can do it!" This often comes after participating in our programs, like caring for the animals at the ranch or exploring science concepts through experiments. These activities not only show them they're capable but also build a sense of responsibility for the environment and each other. Witnessing this shift, from "I can't" to "wow I'm capable of doing something I never thought possible," is what makes this work so incredibly meaningful.

How has your son's experience been attending school here at Corazon?

Emiliano was included right away. He has more chances for applied studies not just theory. Emiliano has found this much more interesting and inspiring. Applied learning let's him see first-hand how his education can help him in real life. At the ranch he can see how to care for animals. He creates art and builds projects. He is developing a sense of responsibility for the well-being of people, animals and mother earth.

What are your hopes and goals for the education program at Corazon in the coming years?

Our dream at Corazon is to truly transform these children's lives. We envision them graduating as well-rounded global citizens, not just with strong academic foundations, but with a lifelong love of learning and a global perspective. This means fostering their self-discovery – helping them understand their strengths, passions, and the positive impact they can have on their community and beyond. We achieve this by instilling core values like integrity, compassion, and independence. These values equip them to become responsible leaders who can make informed choices, contribute meaningfully to their communities, and create a brighter future for themselves and Puerto Vallarta.

Is there anything specific you'd like to share with our donors and supporters about the impact they have on the education program?

Thank you for all your kindness. Your generosity shows the children the goodness of humanity. They can see that they have the potential to change their community and the world.

A Corazón Family Tradition:

10th Annual Open Your Heart Fundraiser & Quinceañera

Thanks to everyone who attended this magical evening in support of Corazón's Becas Program which has transformed the lives of 80 youth who with your help have reached to high school and university graduation. For the first time ever, the rain brought our event indoors making the ambience was more intimate, an unexpected blessing.

Dinner and service were, as always, amazing at the Marriott, accompanied by Trío de Veracruz and their Classic Repertoire. Judith and Miguel Angel celebrated their 15th birthdays and everyone danced the night away to the sounds of DJ Antonio! Judith looked stunning in her teal and silver dress. She danced with confidence, and her joy was clear for everyone to see.

The quinceañera wasn't just a party; it was a reminder of the incredible support we receive. Thanks to you, we created yet another hugely successful event, an unforgettable experience for guests, Judith, Miguel Angel and all the children at Fundacion Corazon de Niña.

Gracias, gracias, gracias!
